Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg writes touching note on being a single mom

With Mother’s Day around the corner, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg has written a moving post about the struggles of being a single mother. Sandberg, who lost her husband Dave Goldberg last year in May, has been a single mother to their two children ever since.

“People become single parents for many reasons: loss of a partner, breakdown of a relationship, by choice. One year and five days ago I joined them,” she explained.

In her note, she honoured all mothers who are raising their children by themselves, highlighting the trials and tribulations most of them have to endure.

“For many single mothers, this is the only world they know. Each and every day they make sacrifices, push through barriers, and nurture beautiful families despite the demands on their time and energy,” she wrote, however adding that she was grateful that she does not have to go through the financial struggles most of them face.

The post has gone viral on Facebook, receiving over 8,500 shares in the last 16 hours. The post has also been ‘liked’ by Facebook CEO and Founder, Mark Zuckerberg.
