US man rapes, murders girlfriend's 10-month-old daughter

Jackson County, West Virginia: US police have arrested a man for brutally raping his girlfriend's ten-month-old daughter and beating her to death at the victim's home in Jackson County in the US state of West Virginia.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, the accused identified as Benjamin Ryan Taylor, was charged with sexual assault and battery.

He was arrested after the victim's mother found her lying naked in a pool of blood in the basement of her home. She immediately dialled 911 and called for help.

When police officials arrived at the scene, the victim's mother told them that she was sleeping next to her daughter, but woke up to find her missing.

When she began searching for her child everywhere, she was horrified to see her lying naked in a pool of blood in the basement. The toddler also had bruises all over her body.

During investigation, police caught Taylor red-handed while he was trying to wipe something off his groin area. Later, they found out that he was trying to get rid of the victim's blood stains on his clothes.

Authorities also discovered blood-stained clothes and blankets in the basement, which they assume were used by Taylor during the crime.

At first, Taylor pleaded not guilty to rape and murder by saying that he did not know how the baby was injured and that he had fainted while doing the laundry.

During investigation, police found out that Taylor had once posted a picture of himself with the baby as his Facebook profile photo. At the same time, he had also put up a cover photo with a caption that read, "I will never apologise for being a sex freak".

Taylor has been held at the South Central Regional Jail on a $2million bond.
