Teen beats girlfriend to death after finding out she's pregnant
Salt Lake City, Utah: The innocent school crush, future plans and love life for Anne Kasprzak turned into her worst nightmare when her boyfriend Darwin Bagshaw decided to get rid of her -- after finding out that she was pregnant with his child.
Anne lived with her mother and step-father in Riverton near Salk Lake City in Utah.
She fell in love with Darwin when she attended a Math class with him back in 2012. "He is the apple of my eye!" Anne wrote in her secret diary describing her love for Darwin.
On March 10, following an argument with her mother, Anne fled from her house and was reported missing by her parents.
The very next day, a man found a shoe along with some blood stains over the bridge near the Jordan River. He immediately informed the police and investigations led them to Anne's lifeless body which was found floating on the riverbank.
According to a report, Darwin told the investigators that he could not digest the fact that he was going to be a father after Anne told him about her pregnancy, following which he decided to kill her.
However, medical autopsy of Anne's body revealed that she was not pregnant. Investigators failed to understand whether Anne lied to Darwin about her pregnancy or she actually thought that she was pregnant.
Darwin was arrested in October 2014. At first, he refuted all the murder claims against him -- but later confessed to killing Anne with a shovel.
During his sentencing, Darwin said that, "I am very sorry for everything that’s happened," he said. "And I want to apologise to Anne’s family and to my family and to everyone in court today for putting everyone through this."
He has been convicted for Anne's murder and has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.
