Watertown: Shan Piche, a former bus driver for a school in the United States, is sentenced to a 10 years probation and assigned the lowest level status on New Yorker's sex offender registry for raping a 14-year-old girl who was on his bus route.

The family was left disappointed by the judgement. "I wish Shane Piche would have received time in jail for the harm he caused to my child," the victim's mother wrote in a statement obtained by WWNY as reported by The Washington Post. "He took something from my daughter she will never get back and has caused her to struggle with depression and anxiety."

The verdict was delivered by Jefferson County Judge James McClusky and it follows the pattern of some of the recent judgements by the US judiciary.

In some of the recent controversial verdicts delievered by the US courts, the convicted rapists were allowed to get away with extended probation period or a few months in jail besides some monetary fine.

In the particular case, Piche lured the girl by offering gift and inviting her to his home where he gave her alcohol before raping her.
