Nagarjuna's 'Soggade Chinni Nayane' emerges as Sankranti box office winner
The Sankranti festival saw the release of four films last week. Though all those films reasonably cashed it on the holiday and festive mood, the winner of the game is Nagarjuna.
While the two big films released on January 13 and 14 got mixed reviews, Nagarjuna’s Soggade Chinni Nayane, which released on January 15, is running in packed houses.
Trade pundits predict the movie to be Nag’s best one since Manam.
“The movie was released in 450 screens, including overseas. Over the first three days, the movie collected Rs 5 crore in both Telugu states on each day. Though we got only 450 theatres for release, the number will go up to 600 in a day or two,” says Nagarjuna.
The film is produced by the actor himself and is not sold to any distributors yet.
Nannaku Prematho made around Rs 55 crore and is doing well, but it has a long way to go to earn profit.
Balakrishna’s Dictator is a hit at the rural areas and has collected Rs 30 crore so far.
Another small film Express Raja starring Sharwanand has also become a hit; it is actually the first movie earn profits this weekend.
So Tollywood has done reasonably good business this Sankranti, especially Nagarjuna, who has emerged the winner of the season!
