WhatsApp has introduced a new AI-powered feature called Writing Help, designed to provide clarity and adjust the tone of a message before it is sent.
The company said the tool is powered by its Private Processing technology, which ensures that messages remain private. The same system also powers other Meta AI tools.
“Writing Help is built on top of Private Processing technology, which allows you to leverage Meta AI to generate a response without Meta or WhatsApp ever reading your message or the suggested re-writes,” WhatsApp said in blogpost.
The AI feature generates three variations of a drafted message in different tones, such as professional, funny, and supportive. To use it, users must compose a message in a one-on-one or group chat and then tap the pencil icon. By default, the feature will remain disabled and must be enabled manually.
The rollout has begun in English, starting with the United States and several other countries. WhatsApp said it plans to expand the feature to more languages and regions later this year.
