Caller ID app Truecaller is rolling out an update to iOS that will offer caller information in real-time for iPhone users.
The new caller ID feature will be rolled out to all users worldwide starting January 22.
This feature was previously unavailable for iOS users and was only accessible to Android users. Earlier, iPhone users never received notifications about incoming calls and had to manually search for the number in the app. However, with the rollout of caller ID, this feature has been made available to iPhone users.
The Company was able to offer this feature because Apple introduced Live Caller ID Lookup in iOS, which enables third-party caller ID apps to make a call to their server to retrieve information about the caller.
In 2024, Truecaller CEO Alan Mamedi announced the long-awaited arrival of caller ID on iPhones. In a post on X, he wrote, “Truecaller is finally working on iPhones.” With Truecaller’s extensive database of phone numbers and IDs, users can now expect more accurate information about caller ID.
Truecaller also said that the update will also have the spam blocking feature on par with the Android version. “The caller identification and spam blocking will now finally be on par with our globally leading @Truecaller Android-app,” wrote Truecaller on X.
However, the caller ID feature will be available for Truecaller premium users. As a free user, you can use the feature, but you’ll encounter advertisements. Both caller ID and spam blocking features are available to all users worldwide.
