Siri Lawsuit: Apple Offers Rs 8,500 Payout per User, Eligibility and Claim Process Explained

Maintaining that they have not done anything wrong, tech giant Apple has agreed to settle a lawsuit alleging privacy violations by its Siri App.

The lawsuit filed in 2019 claimed that Siri occasionally turned on itself and listened to private conversations of users without consent.
Apple was also accused of sharing the user conversations with third parties for quality checks.
Reports claimed the user conversations accessed by Apple include personal medical information and private conversations.
Choosing to settle without going to trial, Apple agreed to pay $ 95 million ( Rs 790 crore).
In line with the settlement, eligible users in the US can file claims to receive shares from the hefty payout. Each user can claim share for a maximum of 5 devices each fetching up to $20.
However, to be eligible, users must have used iPhones, Ipads, MacBooks, Apple TV, Apple Watches, ipod touch, HomePods between September 17, 2024 to December 31, 2024.
While most of the eligible users have already been sent mails with subject "Lopez Voice Assistant Class Action Settlement," those who did not receive mails can also file claims before July 2 by visiting official settlement portal and filling required details.
