PlayStation Plus Users To Get Five-Day Extension After Global Outage.
Sony on Sunday said that all PlayStation Plus members will automatically receive an additional 5 days of service following the huge PlayStation Network (PSN) outage for about 18 hours on Friday and Saturday.
“Network services have fully recovered from an operational issue. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank the community for their patience,” Sony said in a post on X. However, Sony did not reveal the cause of the outage.
The outage left users unable to log in, play online games, or access the online store. On Sunday early morning, Sony confirmed that the PSN has been restored, and users can access online features without any problem.
In a post on X, a user wrote, "PlayStation is back up again after being down for a whole day. Sony at least saved millions of Gamers their Sunday right after ruining their Saturday.”
Earlier in 2014, the PlayStation Network went offline for several days due to a cyberattack. In 2011, a serious breach compromised personal data of nearly 77 million users, which led to a shutdown and investigation.
