Microsoft Editions' of Samsung Galaxy S8, S8+ announced
Samsung recently announced its Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ flagship smartphones, taking the market by a storm. Now, ‘Microsoft Editions’ of the two devices have been announced as well. The smartphones apparently come pre-loaded with additional Microsoft apps.
According to Engadget, Samsung - who is known to bundle up Microsoft apps like Skype, OneDrive and more in its devices – have taken their partnership with Microsoft a step ahead by announcing an exclusive Samsung Galaxy S8 ‘Microsoft Edition.’ The company has also started accepting pre-orders, starting today. The device will be available in US stores ahead of its April 21 launch.
The ‘Microsoft Edition’ Samsung Galaxy S8 comes equipped with Microsoft’s apps and services like Office, OneDrive, Outlook and Cortana. Interestingly, Microsoft’s virtual assistant Cortana will also be available along with Samsung’s Bixby.
“A Microsoft spokesperson confirmed to Engadget that the customisation would be available on both, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+,” the report read. “When the Microsoft Edition handsets are first connected to Wi-Fi, all of the custom software is downloaded and installed. While the regular versions of the Galaxy S8 already includes Office apps, the alternate editions tacks on Cortana, Excel, Outlook, OneDrive, One Note, Bing, Groove, Skype, MSN News and more,” the report further added.
