Road repair work in Bihar gets WhatsApp boost
Bihar deputy chief minister Tejaswi Yadav has encouraged people to contribute toward road repair work and development in the state via instant messaging platform WhatsApp.
According to media reports, the 26-year-old minister has released a WhatsApp number (9470001346) for people to click and post pictures of bad and patchy roads, which will help officials to trace down untidy roads in the state quickly and get it fixed.
In a tweet, the minister said: “In Bihar, people can now directly Whatsapp the conditions of roads under the Output and Performance Based Road Assets Maintenance Contract (OPRMC) to bring more quality & efficiency”

As per the road construction department officials in the state, Yadav has been using WhatsApp as a platform aggressively to ensure maximum engagement of people in helping the concerned state agencies in repairing broken roads.
Yadav had earlier pointed out that this is a new people-friendly experiment to address bad road conditions in the state. Moreover, using WhatsApp also expedites the repair works as compared to the traditional physical compliant system.
While the decision to bring users on board the mission to repair bad roads is commendable, Yadav has also used social media in the past to help an engineering student from Sitamarhi district to get his pending scholarship through Facebook.
In fact, most ministers are now engaging with people in distress on social media to solve problems quickly and also to pass on their messages to the mass.
