LG is rumoured to feature a range of new technologies, from removable battery, iris scanner to mobile payment, on its upcoming flagship G6 smartphone.
In October, at the Korean Electronics Show LG unveiled a new type of all-in-one module that could serve as both camera and iris scanner. Additionally, the company is also rumoured to introduce mobile payment service on the phone using Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST), which will allow customers to make online transactions by touching the smartphone to magnetic card readers. The mobile payment service on the smartphone is speculated to be called LG Pay.
According to a few industry analysts, LG is likely to introduce all new features on G6 to overcome failure of the previous G5 smartphone. In a statement to Korean Herald, Kiwoom Securities analyst Kim Ji-san said, “Unlike strong sales in home appliances and television, LG posted historical losses from its mobile communication unit this year. For a rally in shares, the rebound from G6 is important next year.”
