Apple iPhone XR certified as ready for sale
Earlier this month, Apple unveiled its 2018 lineup of iPhones. This year, Apple went ahead with three models — the flagship iPhone XS and XS Max, and a more pocket-friendly iPhone XR. The iPhone XS has already gone on sale in several markets around the world. During the launch, Apple said that the more affordable iPhone XR will be coming to the markets later in October. If you have been waiting for the iPhone XR, there’s some good news for you.
The FCC in the US has just approved the iPhone XR for sale. Following the clearance, Apple could now sell it in the United States officially. However, during the launch, Apple mentioned that they would be shipping the units by the middle of October in the US, followed by several other markets around the world.
The iPhone XR will be starting at $749 in the US, whereas the base version will cost as much as Rs 77,000 in India. The XR is as powerful as the flagship XS series with Apple’s A12 Bionic chip. However, instead of the Super Retina OLED panel, the XR will rely on a Liquid Retina LCD display with 720p resolution. It will also offer Apple’s FaceID facial recognition system as well as fullscreen design with thin bezels. The XR also has to make do with a single 12MP camera and rely on artificial intelligence for clever bokeh effects. Unlike the XS though, the XR will come in several colours.
