Answered: What does the SE in iPhone SE mean?
Mumbai: Last week Apple unveiled, what it calls the ‘most powerful 4-inch smartphone ever’, and it was named the iPhone SE. The nomenclature of the new iPhone does not follow Apple’s conventional technique, and therefore since much before the launch, it got people thinking what does the ‘SE’ actually stand for.
Interestingly, Ewan Spence, a tech writer, scrutinizes the Apple iPhone SE, all through the lens of the alphabets ‘S’ and ‘E’. He jotted down 25 explanations of what SE could stand for determining on the function, the position of the phone, and what the device represent for Apple.
Here are ten of the best explanations he gave:
Similar Expectation
The fact that iPhone SE looks identical to the older iPhone 5S, Spence opines that it makes the smartphone the most approachable one Apple has released in many years.
Same Engineering
The iPhone SE essentially only mimics the look of the iPhone 5S, but it offers the strength and functions of Apple’s flagship iPhone 6S.
Stronger Encryption
One consequence of sporting the A9 chipset is that the iPhone SE now also has stronger security, offering it the same level of security as the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus.
Sports Edition
As Apple’s inclination towards health and fitness tracking is increasing, and the inclusion of the brilliant M9 motion co-processor in the smartphone, points at the iPhone SE possibly being a fitness-tracking device.
Smaller Electroluminescence
As compared to the iPhone 6S, the display of the iPhone SE as smaller both physically and in terms of the pixels it constitutes. The smaller resolution in turn leads to a better battery life for the 4-incher.
Superfast Execution
As Apple announced at the launch of the iPhone SE, the smartphone is three times faster in performance than the iPhone 5S.
Selfie Exploitation
Although the rear camera of the iPhone SE was improved, the front facing snapper was retained to be the same as the iPhone 5S’.
Still Expensive
Even though Apple cut down the prices for the iPhone SE, if you look at it, it is a smaller and an older design, which is still being in the range of a luxury smartphone.
Samsung’s Enemy
Needless to say, Samsung always remains Apple’s arch enemy, and the two tech giant forever stand one on one against each other.
Special Edition
Now, this is what the actual definition of SE is. It fits well, there is precedent in many industries, and it’s as obvious as the ‘i’ standing for Internet in Apple’s connected products.
