Sony unveils slow-mo Xperia XZ Premium and XZs, XA1, XA1 Ultra
On Monday, Sony unveiled new smartphones under its Xperia series, including Xperia XZ Premium, Xperia XZs, Xperia XA1, and Xperia XA1 Ultra, at the Mobile Congress in Barcelona.
Both Xperia XZ Premium and Xperia XZs smartphones are capable of filming slow-motion footage at four times the rate possible by big brands—Apple and Samsung devices can shot, as they can capture a video up to 960 frames per second (fps).
The first phone is the Xperia XZ Premium. The smartphone features a 5.5-inch Triluminos HDR display with 4K resolution, powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor coupled with Adreno 540 GPU and 4GB RAM, offering 64GB of storage option, which is expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card. Its camera consists of a 19MP rear sensor and a 13MP front sensor. It is fuelled by 3200mAh battery and operates on Android 7.0 Nougat. The phone will be available in tow colour variants—Luminous Chrome and Deepsea Black later in spring.
The second phone is Xperia XZs. The smartphone features a 5.2-inch (1080x1920) display, powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset, coupled with Adreno 510 GPU and 4GB RAM, offering 32GB/64GB of storage option and a microSD slot as well, allowing the memory to expand up to 256GB. It also sports a 19MP rear camera and a 13MP front camera sensor. Powered by a 2900mAh battery, it operates on Android N. It will be available in three colour variants— Ice Blue, Warm Silver and Black.
The XA1 and XA1 Ultra are successor to the Xperai XA and XA Ultra handsets launched last year. The Xperia XA1 Ultra is larger variant featuring a 6-inch (1080x 1920) display, powered by Helio P20, and coupled with 4GB RAM and offering up to 32GB/64GB on-board storage, with a microSD card for expanding storage. It includes a 23MP rear sensor and a 16MP front sensor fro capturing images and videos, and runs on a 2700mAh battery.
On the other hand, the Xperia XA1 comes with a 5-inch (720 x 1280) display, powered by Helio P20, coupled with 3GB RAM, with 32GB on-board storage along with a microSD slot. On camera front, it also sports a 23MP rear camera, but is restricted to an 8MP front sensor for selfies. The device is powered by a 2300mAh battery and operates on Android Nougat.
Sony didn’t reveal the price details of any of the newly launched smartphone but their cost is speculated to vary from region to region.
