Facebook changes the way videos will display on your phone
Facebook will now display vertically oriented videos in the news feed of iOS and Android users.
Earlier vertical videos on Facebook were cropped into squares (1:1 ratio) when displayed in people’s mobile news feed. However, Facebook has now decided to revamp the display format for the news feed to mobile users.
In a statement to a technology website Marketing Land, a Facebook spokesperson said, “We know that people enjoy more immersive experiences on Facebook, so we are starting to display a larger portion of each video in News Feed on mobile.”
The social media giant will now support vertical videos on its 6-year-old mobile app, instead the square-formatted videos. The vertically-formatted (2:3 ratio) display update applies to videos, ads and live broadcasts.
Facebook’s mobile application also features an arrow icon in the upper right-corner to make the video full-screen.
