Samsung's new Galaxy J series phone may join 'Android Go' bandwagon

It seems that Samsung is following up the footsteps of HMD Global and other rivals. According to a fresh report, Samsung might soon unveil its first Android Go smartphone. An entry-level Galaxy J series smartphone with model number SM-J260G has surfaced on Geekbench, ahead of any official announcement.

The smartphone is widely speculated as the Galaxy J2 Core with the latest Android Oreo iteration, though the South Korean giant is yet to confirm the details.

The Geekbench listing shows that the new Samsung handset could run Android 8.1 Oreo. Under the hood, the device could be powered by a quad-core Exynos 7570 processor clocked at 1.43GHz, coupled with a 1GB of RAM. The listing further mentions “Universal7570_Go,” indicating the presence of Android Go. Furthermore, smartphones such as Lava Z50, Nokia 1 and Alcatel 1X already offers Android Oreo (Go edition) to the market.
