The (PRODUCT) RED lineup for iPhones was started with 2016’s iPhone 7 lineup. Parts of the funds extracted from the (PRODUCT) RED Apple products go to Global Fund HIV/AIDS grants that provide testing, counselling, treatment, and prevention programmes with a focus specifically on eliminating transmission of the virus to babies. Statistics show that Apple had raised approximately $160 million from the (PRODUCT) RED lineup till December 2017.

Both the (PRODUCT) RED iPhone 8 are identical to the standard iPhone 8 series, except for the black face and the red-coloured rear panel. To recall, both the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are built around Apple’s custom-made A11 Bionic chipset that is controlled by iOS 11. The iPhone 8 has a 4.7-inch Retina HD display and sports a 12MP rear camera with f/1.8 aperture. The iPhone 8 Plus has a bigger 5.5-inch Retina HD display and features a 12MP + 12MP dual camera setup, which is capable of shooting portrait photos with studio light effects.
