MWC 2017: Specs, features, price of all phones announced so far

The world's biggest tech show Mobile World Congress is being held in Barcelona.

The world’s biggest mobile industry trade show Mobile World Congress is being held in Barcelona. Many of the smartphone giant’s have unveiled their next-generation smartphone on day one of the event.

Here’s a list of smartphone that have been announced in Barcelona so far.

Nokia

MWC 2017

Nokia 3310 returns to life

Finish company HMD Global, which owns the right to market the Nokia brand, unveiled a revamped version of the iconic Nokia 3310 more than a decade after it was phased out.

The new 3310 qualifies as a “feature phone”. Unlike the smartphone which is capable of providing 3G/4G connectivity, Nokia 3310 relies on 2.5G connectivity and runs on S30+ operating system, which allows web browsing in its 2.4-inch display screen.

HDM claims the coloured-screen phone has month long stand-by and can deliver 22 hours of talk-time, ten times more than the original. The new Nokia 3310 also sports a 2MP rear camera and comes preinstalled with a new the modern version of the classic “Snake” game. It is available in four colour variants—Warm Red, Yellow, both with a gloss finish, and matte finished Dark Blue and Grey. It has been priced at €49 (appox. under Rs 3,500) and is expected to hit the Indian market as early as May.

Mid-range Nokia-Android phone

Apart from bring the Nokia 3310 back to life; HMD has launched three Android phones for the mid-range price brackets—Nokia 6, Nokia 5 and Nokia 3.

Nokia 6, which has been available in the Chinese market for a month now, has now been launched with some tweaks.

The smartphone features a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080) display, powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC, coupled with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage, which can further be expanded via microSD card, a 16MP rear camera and a 8MP front camera.

In its new offering, HMD is rolling out a limited edition glossy Arte Black variant, which will come with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage option. The Nokia 6 will be available for €229 (approx. Rs 16,000).

Nokia 5: It features a 5.3-inch HD display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass, runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 430 processor and Adreno 505 GPU, coupled with 2GB RAM and have 16GB storage option, 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera. Available in four colours – Matte Black, Silver, Tempered Blue and Copper– the Nokia 5 will retail at an average global retail price of €189 (approx. Rs 13,300).

Nokia 3: It features a 3-inch display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass, powered by MediaTek MTK 6737, coupled with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage. The front and rear camera have both 8MP sensors. The device will feature four colours—Silver White, Matte Black, Tempered Blue and Copper White—and will retail at an affordable price, compared to the other two, of €139 (approx. Rs 9,800).

All the Nokia-branded smartphones will run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box, and is said to hit the shelves in Q2 this year.

BlackBerry

MWC 2017

Another former big name phone brand—BlackBerry—also unveiled new devices on the eve of the congress in an attempt to make a comeback.

The firm debuted a new high-end device, the KEYone, that brings back the brand's signature physical keyboard and has a larger screen than previous models.

The smartphone sports a 4.5-inch full-HD IPS display with a pixel density of 433ppi and Corning Gorilla Glass 4, is powered by the Snapdragon 625 Octa-Core SoC, alongside 3GB of RAM and Adreno 506 GPU, a 12MP camera and an 8MP front sensor. Internal storage is capped at 32GB with expandable storage of up to 2TB. It runs on a 3505mAh battery and has support for Quick Charge 3.0 which provides 50 per cent charge in approx. 36 minutes. It runs on Android 7.1 Nougat and will go on sale starting April at a price of $549 (approx. 38,600).

Huawei

MWC 2017

Huawei took wraps off of its much acclaimed P10 and P10 Plus at the MWC Event in Barcelona, which differs only by their screen size and battery capacity.

The P10 comes with a 5.1-inch HD display and runs on a 3200mAh battery. The P10 Plus comes with a 3750mAh battery. The screens of both the smartphones are protected by 2.5D Gorilla Glass 5, and supports fast charging as well.

Both phones are powered by the HiSilicon Kirin 960 SoC and Mali-G71MP GPU.

The P10 comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, while the P10 Plus comes with 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage or 6GB RAM/ 128GB storage bundles. Both the smartphones sport a dual camera setup with one 20MP sensor that takes in monochrome details, and another 12MP sensor which takes in RGB details.

While the P10 is priced at €649 (Rs 45,700), the P10 Plus will be available at a starting price of €699 (Rs 49,200).

LG

G6

For its 5.7-inch G6, LG has ditched the modular-like design of its predecessors. The smartphone features a QHD 5.-7 –inch display with an aspect ratio of 18:9, is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC, coupled with 4GB RAM, offering 32GB/64GB storage option, with additional expandable storage of up to 2TB. Powered by a non-removable 3300mAh battery, it sports a dual-camera setup with one 13MP sensor for wide angle and one 13MP sensor for regular shots, and a 5MP front camera.

Unfortunately, LG has yet not detailed anything about the pricing details.

Lenovo

The Lenovo-owned Moto launched two smartphones—Moto G5 and G5 Plus—starting at a price of $299 (approx. Rs 14,000).

Moto G5

As the name suggests, the G5 Plus is a bigger variant, featuring a display of 5.2-inch, while the G5 has a 5-inch display.

In terms of specifications, the G5 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC, coupled with 2GB/4GB RAM with 16GB/32GB storage option, 2,800mAh battery, features a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera.

The G5 Plus is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 Soc, coupled with 2GB/3GB/4GB with base storage at 32GB/64GB storage option, 3000mAh battery, sports a 12MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera.

Both smartphone will operate on Android Nougat and will be made available globally in March.
