Bixby and Kestra- Samsung male and female voice assistants for Galaxy S8

Samsung is reportedly planning to give two voices, a male and a female voice, to the AI voice assistant support to debut on Samsung next release Galaxy S8.

According to a report by GalaxyClub.nl, Bixby will be the male voice of the digital assistant, while Kestra will be the female voice assistant.

In the trademark application filed by the smartphone giant both Bixby and Kestra have been described as “computer software for enabling hand-free use of mobile phone through voice recognition” and “computer software used to process voice commands.”

Earlier this month, Samsung said it would launch an artificial intelligence digital assistant service for its upcoming Galaxy S8 smartphone, seeking to rebound from the Galaxy Note 7's collapse and differentiate its devices.

The smartphone giant acquired US –based artificial intelligence developer Viv Labs, a firm run by co-creators of Apple Siri voice-assistant to redefine its handset by incorporating AI into them. The company is counting on the Galaxy S8 to help revive smartphone momentum after the discontinuation of fire-prone Galaxy Note 7s.

Investors and analysts have said the Galaxy S8 needs to be a strong device in order for Samsung to win back customers and revive earnings momentum.
