Samsung starts rolling out Android 8.1 Oreo update to Galaxy J5 (2017): Report
Samsung has rolled out the Android 8.1 Oreo update to the Galaxy J5 (2017). The smartphone arrived with Android 7.0 Marshmallow when it was launched back in 2017 alongside the Galaxy J3 (2017) and Galaxy J7 (2017).
According to Sammobile, the new software is currently rolling out in Poland and is expected to spread across the world very soon. The update comes with version number J530FXXU2BRH5.
To recall, the Galaxy J5 (2017) features a 5.2-inch HD Super AMOLED display. It is powered by an octa-core Exynos 7870 chipset clocked at the 1.6GHz, paired with Mali T830 GPU. It comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, that is expandable up to 256GB via microSD card. Optics wise, the handset features a 13MP rear and front sensor assisted by a LED flash on both sides. The smartphone draws its power from a 3000mAh battery. It has 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, Micro USB port, and GPS.
Besides, the Galaxy J3 (2017) had already received the Android 8.0 Oreo. As for the Galaxy J7 (2017), it is yet to receive the update. Additionally, a July report suggested that the Galaxy J5 Pro and the Galaxy J7 Pro will receive the Android Oreo update sometime around September this year.
