Sony Xperia X, X Compact get Android Nougat 7.1.1

Android 7.1.1 Nougat is officially rolling out to Sony Xperia X, X Compact smartphones.

Sony recently made the Android 7.0 Nougat update available for several of its smartphones including Xperia XA, Xperia XA, Xepria XA Ultra and others. The firm is now rolling out the update to Xperia X and X Compact smartphones as well.

The smartphones — launched in May, 2016 — originally ran on Google’s Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow) OS. The devices were upgraded to Android 7.0 (Nougat) by the end of 2016. Finally, the smartphones will be upgraded from Android 7.0 (Nougat) to 7.1.1. The update includes multiple security enhancements along with general performance and stability improvements.

Apart from Xperia X and X Compact, Sony’s Xperia X Performance and Xperia X Performance Dual-SIM are also receiving the Android 7.1.1 (Nougat) update. The upgrade is expected to improve stability of Wi-Fi connections along with the sound when the smartphones are used with Bluetooth headphones using LDAC, reported Softpedia.
