Xiaomi launches phone with a screen you’ll be left ‘wrapping’ your mind around

The new flagship phone from the brand Mi Mix Alpha has an astonishing screen that wraps around the device’s frame, all the way to the back.

Chinese smartphone maker, Xiaomi announced a game-changing 180 per cent screen-to-body ratio smartphone yesterday.

The new flagship phone from the brand Mi Mix Alpha has an astonishing screen that wraps around the device’s frame, all the way to the back. Bezels, you’re wondering? They are only a few and at the back surrounding a 108 MP camera which sits in a triple camera set-up on a ceramic frame.

The phone first caused buzz, when news leaked that Xiaomi will be introducing a phone with a 108 MP camera. However, that is not all. Collaborating with Samsung, the 108 MP Samsung sensor will be supported by two 12-megapixel telephoto (for 2x optical zoom) and 20-megapixel ultra-wide angle lenses. This should give you 12,032 x 9,024 resolution photos, according to phone maker’s Chinese social media platform, Weibo post. This subsequently mentioned that the pictures will remain clear till 8x magnification.

A bezel-less display, selfies on this phone can be taken from the powerful 108 MP sensor.

Talking further about the back the phone will have shortcuts to favourite and more used applications there. When not in use, it shall remain switched off.

On the sides, there will be pressure sensitive buttons. To ensure an annoyance free experience, the phone will have multi-touch sensors along with AI algorithms to ensure less accidental touch activations.

Inside, the phone will be powered by the latest Snapdragon 855 Plus processor, 12GB of RAM, 512 GB of UFS 3.0 storage and a 4,050 mAh battery that supports 40W fast charging.

The phone’s launch date is not clear yet, however reports show that prices will be at 20,000 yuan, roughly Rs 1,99,464. They also mention that the phone will be manufactured in small units.
