Xiaomi launches new budget Redmi 8A smartphone

It shall be available in two 2GB and 3GB RAM variants and will sell first on e-commerce website Flipkart as well as on its own website.

Xiaomi today extended the Redmi A series with the launchi of a new ‘Redmi 8A’ smartphone. It shall be available in two variants, 2GB+32GB and 3GB+32GB it will be available for Rs 6,999 and Rs 6,499, respectively and will on e-commerce website Flipkart as well as on its own website.

A press release from the smartphone manufacturer detailed that the phone will have a 6.22-inches HD+ display, with an aspect ratio of 19:9.The screen consists of Corning Glass 5 and is a Dot Notch display. Further, talking about the body it has a P2i nano-coating making it splash resistant with textured patterns as well, for better grip and lesser fingerprint residues. Inside the Dot notch, resides an 8MP selfie camera, 12 MP Sony IMX363 sensor, aperture of f/1.8, and delivers photographs with a large pixel size of 1.4μm. The latter is it primary, rear camera, and the both of them support AI portrait modes.

Venturing beyond, on the interior and one of the most important aspects of the phone is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 octa-core chipset. A dual Sim phone it will come with a 2+1 dual SIM slot with dedicated MicroSD card support, it will thus have up to 512 GB of internal storage above the 32 GB of in-built one. According to its manufacturer it shall also retains the popular feature which allows users to playback FM radio without the need of connecting their earphones.

Fuelled by a 5,000 mAh battery, the budget handset will support 18 Watt fast-charging on the type C port. Inside the box, it will come with a 10W fast charger.

Redmi 8A will be available in Midnight Black, Sunset Red and Ocean Blue colour variants and will go on sale from the 29th of September. Offline stores like Mi Homes will have them from 30th September onwards. It will soon be available across all other offline stores.
