MWC 2016: Intex reveals mid-ranged Aqua Fish with Sailfish OS 2.0
Mumbai: Indian OEM Intex on Thursday unveiled a new Sailfish OS 2.0 based smartphone in partnership with Jolla at the Mobile World Conference (MWC) 2016. A prototype of the Aqua Fish was revealed in India last summer, but no release details were shared at the time.
Intex announced that the Aqua Fish will be available in India starting April, however, no price details were disclosed. According to media reports, the device will be priced affordably to blend properly in the Indian market.
The smartphone comes in two peppy colour options: black and orange. There is a possibility that the company might introduce other colour options as well.
As mentioned earlier, the Aqua Fish will ship with Sailfish OS 2.0, which can seamlessly run Android applications. According to the company, the Sailfish OS 2.0 will bring numerous improvements and features including third-party app integration.
The Aqua Fish is a mid-ranged device and sports a 5-inch capcitive HD screen, which is good enough for average smartphone users. Under the hood, the device packs a 1.3Ghz quad-core processor coupled with 2GB RAM, and 16Gb on-board storage that can be extended to 32Gb via external microSD.
In terms of camera, the handset features a 8MP primary camera with auto-focus, LED flash, and full HD video recording. A 2MP camera is also present on the front side for selfies.
A 2,500mAh battery powers the Intex Aqua Fish, but no information on the battery’s capabilities were revealed. The phone features all connectivity options from 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and microUSB support.
