Video: iPhone 8 teardown reveals what it is hiding under the hood
Two of Apple's newly launched iPhones, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, are now available for pre-booking in India, and are all set to get delivered to customers starting September 29. Those who have already booked the iPhone 8 or are considering booking it, may be wondering what the phone is hiding under the hood that makes it different from older iPhones, especially from its predecessor iPhone 7.
The well-known repair and teardown website, iFixit, has published a teardown video examining the iPhone 8.
In the video, iFixit, reveals that the iPhone 8 is much like the iPhone 7, however, unlike its predecessor the back panel of the device is difficult to access. Also, iPhone 8 packs a smaller 1822mAh battery compared to 1960mAh placed in iPhone 7.
The handset includes 2GB LPDDR4 RAM, Qualcomm MDM9656 Snapdragon X16 LTE Modem, NXP 80v18 secure NFC module and components from Skyworks and Avago. The new A11 Bionic six cores chip was discovered to be layered over SK Hynix.
Ultimately, the iPhone 8 was able to score a six out of 10 on reparability, which is lower that the iPhone 7 teardown score.
