Samsung Galaxy A8 Star has been launched in India for Rs 34,990. Originally launched in China as the Galaxy A9 Star, the smartphone comes with Infinity display, dual rear IntelliCam camera setup, a selfie camera with features such as Pro Lighting and Smart Beauty, and more. The device will be available in two colour variants — Midnight Black and Ivory White.
The Galaxy A8 Star flaunts a 6.3-inch full HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity display with a taller 18.5:9 aspect ratio for more real-estate for watching video content. It sports a 2.5D and 3D curved glass protection that sits alongside the metal frame. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with Samsung Experience UX on top.' At its core, the handset runs on a Snapdragon 660 chipset accompanied by 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 400GB. It is backed by a 3700mAh battery.
In terms of optics, as mentioned, the device comes with "Dual IntelliCam" setup on the back with a combination of 16MP and 24MP sensors, both featuring f/1.7 aperture lenses for improved low-light photography. Additionally, it also comes with a "Live Focus" feature, that will blur the background, while keeping the object in sharp focus. On the front, there is a 24MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture. The front shooter is also equipped with a Pro Lighting and Smart Beauty features and supports AR stickers.
The handset also includes features such as Face Recognition feature and a rear fingerprint scanner for security reasons. Other features include, ‘Always On’ display, Dual Messenger feature. Furthermore, the smartphone will support Samsung Pay and come integrated with Bixby voice assistant as well.
On the connectivity front, the A8 Star includes 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, USB Type-C, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The Samsung Galaxy A8 Star will be exclusively available via Amazon.in from August 27 and will be sold in retail stores starting September 5, as per the company.
