Sony rolling out firmware update to enhance battery longevity
Smartphone batteries dying can be irritating, especially if it happens on modern day devices where it takes a lot of effort to get the battery replaced.
While most manufacturers are introducing fast charging techniques to adhere to customer demand, there is a huge risk involved with this mode of battery regeneration.
Even though fast charging is an alternative to bigger batteries, there are high chances of the battery getting bloated up or damaged, depending on the speed of charging.
As an alternative, Sony has now introduced a new feature to Marshmallow AOSP beta firmware, dubbed Soft Charging, for its devices including Xperia Z2, Z3 and Z3 Compact.
Now Soft Charging does not charge your device any faster, contrary to what users want but this unique feature will ensure complete protection when it comes to the battery.
Even if it charges the battery slowly, it will ensure complete battery optimisation, allowing it to last in the long run. However, users have an option to turn it off or on, depending on their preference.
Other than that, the new beta firmware update with build number 23.5.A.1.238 will include the latest Xperia Home launcher and should be available soon.
