Sony's new Xperia XZ2 with Snapdragon 845: Renders leaked

The company's new flagship with Full HD display stated to launch at MWC 2018 this month.

Sony is planning to launch its flagship Xperia Z series at MWC 2018 next week. Since the era of 18:9 displays as begun last year, all the manufacturers have managed to implement this display in their premium flagships, thanks to the biggies like Apple and Samsung. But Sony hasn’t been updating to this trend and has been stick to its initial Xperia design.

However, this might change from its future flagships as the new leaks suggest so. Famous tipster Evan Blass has tweeted the new Sony Xperia XZ2 render on his Twitter account, and according to the new render, it sports a full glass 5.7-inch display.

According to the report from VentureBeat, there are two versions of this Sony’s upcoming flagship: Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact. Despite the display sizes, reports suggest both these smartphones share largely the same features, which include Android Oreo and Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 845 chipset (also to be featured in upcoming Galaxy S9 and S9+). These phones are likely to offer a larger screen-to-body ratio than the previous iterations of the Xperia series.

XZ2 boasts a 3D glass on both sides along with the aluminium frame and has a glossy finish, which is expected to come in four colour variants Black, Green, Silver and Pink. Both these phones feature a full HD LCD displays (no LEDs yet) and protected by Gorilla Glass 5.

Sony still chose to implement a single 19MP camera instead of dual cameras at the rear, which the contemporaries are featuring these days, but is capable of recording of 4K HDR and has an aperture of f/1.8. On the battery front, XZ2 is powered by a 3180mAh battery, which also has wireless charging alongside USB-C charging port. Whereas XZ2 Compact is powered by a smaller, 2870mAh battery and supports only wired charging.

Sony has debuted its Xperia XA2 and XA2 Ultra back at CES 2018, and now has an event scheduled at MWC 2018 on 26th this month to launch its new flagship Xperia XZ2.
