Apple will bring new biometric sensors to iPhone 8

The new biometrics will be a combination of face detection and fingerprint sensors.

Giving fuel to the ongoing speculation around Apple’s next flagship, rumoured to be called iPhone 8, KGI is claiming Apple will bring several new biometric technologies to help the iPhones to feature ‘zero-bezel’ designs.

According to KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple may replace the Touch ID sensor with a new optical fingerprint sensor, and may also put facial recognition sensors to bring a zero-bezel iPhone design.
While tech giant Samsung has improved their smartphones’ security by introducing iris scanner along with the fingerprint scanner, KGI in reports cited Apple will not use iris recognition, instead it will rely on face recognition for authentication and unlock.

Apple iPhone will not solely depend on fingerprint sensor, KGI said. The new biometric will be a combination of face detection and fingerprint sensors.

In addition, the new iPhones are claimed to come with OLED display which will allow it to curve around the sides of the main chassis. Apple is also believed to eliminate the physical home button for its vision for an all display bezel-less iPhone.
