The latest flagship from OnePlus carries the 3.5mm headphone jack despite looking similar to an iPhone.
Although the statement was probably made on a lighter note, it was ironic to see OnePlus mocking the Cupertino giant despite them themselves getting ‘inspired’ by the iPhone 7.

After months of leaks and teasers, the OnePlus 5 has been finally unveiled by the Chinese manufacturer. The phone has got mixed reviews, with many appreciating the specification combo and many criticising the iPhone-inspired design. However, fans of the flagship killer are welcoming the presence of the headphone jack, something which Apple’s premium iPhone 7 lacks and is being trolled for. And OnePlus is the latest entry into the trolling list.

Diego Heinz, the lead designer for OnePlus, was speaking at the OnePlus 5 launch event when he mocked Apple for omitting the iPhone’s 3.5mm audio jack. “On the bottom, you’ll see that we ditched the 3.5mm headphone jack. The elegance of the overall design is instantly heightened. And who needs a headphone jack anyways? That’s why Bluetooth exists, right? Just kidding, of course, the OnePlus 5 has a headphone jack,” Heinz said during the press conference.

Although the statement was probably made on a lighter note, it was ironic to see OnePlus mocking the Cupertino giant despite them themselves getting ‘inspired’ by the iPhone 7. The OnePlus 5 seems to have been taken inspiration for many elements – the midnight black colour, the U-shaped antenna bands and the arrangement of the dual rear camera sensor.

Apart from that, the OnePlus 5 has flagship specifications. The smartphone sports a 5.5-inch Full HD display is powered by Snapdragon 835 SoC clocked at 2.4GHz coupled with Adreno 540 GPU. The smartphone will be available in two RAM and storage variants—6GB RAM & 64GB inbuilt storage and 8GB RAM & 128GB storage.

Fueled by a 3300mAh of battery, the phone is said to be capable of lasting 20 percent longer than the OnePlus 3T. The phone retains the 3.5mm headphone jack and is touted as the “slimmest OnePlus flagship ever” with 154.2x74.1x7.25mm in measurement. The phone operates on Android Nougat 7.1.1 with Oxygen OS atop and will be available in Midnight Black and Slate Grey colour.
