New Siri scheduled for WWDC 2018, says Siri
Voice Assistants are the new talk of the town, with all the major Tech giants trying their best to utilise the power of artificial intelligence and offer one of the most unique as well as practical experiences on smartphones as well as smart speakers. Google grabbed everyone’s attention with Google Duplex at the I/O 2018 whereas Microsoft’s Cortana is making strides in another direction to bring the smartphones and PCs together. However, Apple’s Siri is nowhere to be seen in the field, despite the launch of HomePod smart speaker. However, that might be about to change soon.
Siri has itself started hinting at new features and upgrades for itself to be unveiled at the WWDC 2018 event. As reported by Softpedia, when Siri is enquired about what to expect at the WWDC 2018, the following reply is generated – “La La La, Siri is getting a brand new voice.” The reply was noticed on iPhones, iPads and Macs.
While Apple is staying mum over all its announcements, it’s expected that Cupertino’s IT giant will announce new stuff for Siri, which is presently the only voice assistant from a biggie that is far behind its rivals in terms of capabilities and features. The HomePod smart speaker, which was unveiled last year, depends on Siri for all of its smartness and yet has failed to impress critics as well as consumers with its capabilities when compared to Google’s Home speakers as well as Amazon’s Echo speakers. Siri is in dire need of an upgrade and Apple’s hint suggests that WWDC could store a lot for the voice assistant that would eventually help it offer some serious competition to the existing players.
