It has been learnt that Samsung might be launching another smartphone running on its native Tizen OS in India on August 23.

The company has been sending out media invites to an undisclosed event on August 23 in India where it is expected to launch the Samsung Z2.

The Z2 would be the third Tizen-based handset from the South Korean giants in India after the launch of the Z1 and Z3. It has been speculated that the Z2 will be a budgeted device.

Specs-wise, the Samsung Z2 is expected to feature a 1.5GHz quad-core processor along with 1GB RAM and 8GB expandable storage. The smartphone is likely to have a 3.97-inch display with WVGA resolution. The camera specifications are also low: 5MP rear camera and a VGA camera upfront. Battery-wise, a mere 1,500mAh battery powers the whole unit.

According to SamMobile, the Z2 will be the first Tizen-based smartphone to come with 4G LTE support. Moreover, the handset will also have features likes Ultra Data Saving Mode, My Money Transfer app etc for Indian users exclusively.

The company had earlier launched its Z3, another affordable Tizen-based device, which is priced at Rs 8,490. It would be interesting to see how this device performs in the Indian smartphone market.
