The design, married with anodised aluminium body and a dual-camera setup, unarguably makes the phone looks like iPhone 7 Plus model.

So, what makes the OnePlus 5 unique?

Dual rear camera sensor:
The OnePlus 5 features a dual rear camera, akin to an iPhone 7 Plus and various other smartphones. The wide-angle lens is a 16MP Sony IMX 398 with an aperture of f/1.7 and has Electrical Image Stabilisation (EIS). The secondary telephoto lens is a 20MP Sony IMX 350 sensor with an aperture of f/2.6.This hardware, along with software trickery, makes for a compelling camera unit on paper. Bluetooth 5:
The inclusion of Snapdragon 835 makes way for native support of Bluetooth 5.0. The latest generation of Bluetooth has a wider bandwidth a higher data transmission speed, 1.7 times faster than Bluetooth 4.2. This also means that with the OnePlus 5, you will be able to pair two Bluetooth devices simultaneously, provided that both of them support the newer protocol.

Ambient colour sensor:
Until now, Android was having a ‘Reading Mode’ that was basically a blue light filter to prevent radiations while reading for extended hours. The ambient colour sensor on the OnePlus 5 can make the screen adapt to the ambient colour, making the display completely black and white in the dark, like a Kindle.

All global bands supported
At the global launch event, OnePlus touted the OP5 as a truly global smartphone that can support all major bands across the world. 18 FDD LTE bands, 4 TDD LTE bands, 2 TD-SCDMA bands, 5 WCDMA bands, 4 GSM bands and the BC0 CDMA EVO band will keep the OP5 operational in any part of the world, thus eliminating the need to have a secondary regional handset.

Two distinct variants
For the first time in OnePlus’ lifespan, the OnePlus 5 is the only phone to come in two specification variants. There’s a mid-ranger 6GB/64GB option available for $479 (approx. Rs 31,000). The other higher range (rather flagship range) has 8GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage that retails for $499 (approx. Rs 35,999).
