How to identify a Safe Galaxy Note 7'
Samsung has begun replacing all ‘unsafe’ Galaxy Note 7 handsets that were equipped with faulty, fire-prone batteries. However, the crucial question is still around — ‘how do you identify a safe Samsung Galaxy Note 7?’ Well, Samsung has made it easier for buyers to know which are the new batched of the Note 7 with safer batteries. The company has introduced two identifications — ‘Green battery icon’ and a ‘Square symbol’ — to help users identify that they own a newly replaced Note 7.
According to the company’s support page, the new green battery icon will be visible on the Status Bar, the Always On Display screen, and the Power Off prompt screen, which can be accessed by long-pressing the power key. Additionally, users can also cross check if they are using the new Galaxy Note7 by looking for a black colour square symbol on the label of the packaging box. Samsung is urging its customers stating, ‘Our highest priority is the safety of our customers, and we strongly urge Galaxy Note7 users to immediately participate in the replacement program based on local availability.’
Samsung earlier said that it will perform software update that will limit the device’s charge to 60 per cent to restrict the possibilities of overheating and fire. By introducing the Green battery icon, Samsung will limit the charging levels, allowing customers to charge the Note 7 only up to a certain level (60 per cent).
Samsung has announced that the replacement Note 7 will start arriving on September 21 to Australia, while the Europeans countries have already started receiving the first shipment of the new Galaxy Note 7 units. Samsung has sold 2.5 million Note 7 phones till date and after the ‘exploding phone’ reports came in, Samsung immediately halted the supply of Note 7 units in 10 markets, including US and South Korea.
