InFocus Bingo 50 review: The smartphone's camera is a pleasant surprise

Priced at a humble Rs 7,499, the Bingo 50 is fairly impressive.

Mumbai: InFocus recently rolled out a new series of smartphones, Bingo. The series primarily targets the younger crowd, by aiming to make the smartphones economical as well as efficient. The latest smartphone launched by the US-based tech company is the InFocus Bingo 50, which is also believed to be their flagship smartphone.

We had a chance for a hands-on experience with the Bingo 50, and here is what we drew out of the smartphone’s experience.

InFocus Bingo 50

At the first look, the metal bezel hugging the smartphone edges, reminds you of a Moto G smartphone. The InFocus Bingo 50 sports a 5-inch HD on-cell display, and a sandstone back panel. The top end of the front panel features the earpiece, a notification LED and a whopping 8MP front facing camera. The rear panel sports an 8MP primary camera with an LED flash, and the InFocus logo scribed right beneath it. A speaker grille is also placed at the rear panel.

On the right edge, it sports the power button, and the volume rocker sits on the left edge of the smartphone. The audio jack is placed on the top edge, while the USB 2.0 charging port is at the bottom edge.

The smartphone is comfortable to hold and has a decent one-hand usability. Although the sandstone back panel gives it a good grip and contributes to the smartphone’s design, the texture tickles the skin a bit. However, using a smartphone case can easily sort that issue. The display of the smartphone has good viewing angles and it’s sunlight legibility is pretty decent too. Despite the display being glossy, it surprisingly does not attract too many fingerprints and smudges.

Under the hood, the InFocus Bingo 50 is powered by a 1.3GHz four-core MediaTek MT6735 processor, with 3GB of RAM and an internal storage of 16GB, which is expandable up to 64GB using a microSD card.

On the connectivity front, it includes Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, 4G connectivity, Bluetooth v4.0, USB 2.0, 3.5mm audio jack, and a dual-SIM option. It is fuelled by 2500 mAh battery.

The smartphone runs on the latest Android v6.0 Marshmallow operating system. Its user interface is layered by InFocus’ own InLife UI 2.0, and it comes with an option to choose from three different themes.

The Bingo 50 scores decently well on the performance front. The phone runs without lagging and has a fluid app-to-app transition. The battery lasts quite a bit on a regular daily usage, which would obviously differ according to the smartphone’s usage.

Further, the speakers of the Bingo 50 are quite impressive. They are decently loud for a smartphone speaker, however when turned up on full volume, high pitch songs sometime lose quality. Additionally, although the smartphone’s speakers are loud, since they are placed at the back panel, users must should preferably always keep the phone facedown for better audio output.

Moving on, the InFocus Bingo 50’s cameras are a pleasant surprise. The smartphone features an 8MP front camera and another 8MP at the back with an LED flash. The camera comes with two photography modes, namely Normal and Panorama mode.

The pictures clicked from the smartphone are quite impressive. The images are crisp, and have a good balance of colour, brightness and sharpness. Even the front camera does a pretty decent job, and should prove to be a hit for selfie addicts.

Below are some shots clicked from the Bingo 50, you can view the pictures to judge for yourself the camera quality of the smartphone.
