Google Photos app glitch rearranges old photos

The photos dated prior to 1979 have been rearranged by the Photos app to the date on which they have been scanned.

Google Photos is a standard backup app for all the smartphone users and photographers as it is a free cloud storage service from Google. It has unlimited cloud storage and can be accessed anytime, anywhere regardless of the device which you are using. Many users have the habit of storing old photos as part of their collection like 'photos of history.' Reportedly an issue has been raised in the Google forums about the rearrangement of photos taken prior to 1978.

Several users have been complaining on the forum that their photos have been organised according to the date on which have been scanned instead of the date on which they have been taken (or re-edited by the user for older photographs). The photos dated prior to 1979 have been rearranged by the Photos app to the date on which they have been scanned.

“All of my Google Photos from prior to 1978 have suddenly disappeared from both my desktop and iPhone today!! Some of the missing pictures are still showing in albums that I created but all of the dates for these photos have been changed to random dates in 2017!!!,” a user complained on the company’s forum.

Google has acknowledged and apologised on this issue and said they are working on it. Meanwhile, it also requested users not to re-edit their photos in the photos for now.
