A buyers' guide to order Reliance Jio 'Rs 0' phone

Reliance Jio will start shipping the JioPhone as early as first week of September.

Reliance Jio has reportedly begun testing its ‘free of cost’ JioPhone in the country, but the firm is still a week away to start taking orders for the phone. The pre-booking window for JioPhone’s registration is scheduled to open on August 24 and there are numerous ways using which interested can register themselves for the phone. However, according to the reports, the phone will start shipping to customers as early as in the first week of September.

First and foremost to keep yourself update about the availability of the 4G feature phone, buyers are advised to visit the official Reliance Jio website and click on ‘keep me posted’. The option will then shows a pop-up asking ‘Register Interest’ where a buyer will be required to submit details such as name, phone number and email ID.

Alternatively, buyers can register simply via a text message. In the text message, one would need to Type as JP <> your area pin code <> Jio store code near your area and send it on 702 11 702 11. A text message saying ‘Thank You’ will then be received, confirming buyer’s interest.

Apart from it, buyers can also place the order via Reliance Jio’s MyJio App.

Although, the JioPhone has been claimed as a “free of cost” device, buyers will need to deposit a one-time refundable security of Rs 1,500 to avoid any misuse of the product. The amount will be refunded after 3 years on return of the phone.

To recall, the JioPhone features a 2.4-inch QVGA display, FM radio, torch, headphone jack, SD card slot and an alphanumeric keyboard. It supports digital payment via NFC, 4G VoLTE calls and data and a suite of Jio apps, which includes Jio Cinema, Jio Music and more.
