Android co-founder Andy Rubin's new smartphone is on its way

The new smartphone under Essential will sport a 5.5-inch display with a screen resolution of 2560 x 1312 pixels.

It was earlier reported that Android co-founder Andy Rubin is planning on establishing a company of his own called Essential and is reportedly even working on his new high-end smartphone, set to launch soon. He took to Twitter recently to tease the upcoming device.

The smartphone was reportedly spotted on GFXBench recently. According to the information provided on the website, the smartphone packs a 5.5-inch display with a screen resolution of 2560 x 1312 pixels. Furthermore, the device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor along with Adreno 540 GPU. The smartphone, which is still not named, offers 4GB of RAM along with 16GB of internal storage.

On the camera front, the smartphone packs a 12MP rear camera along with an 8MP front shooter, with both the sensors supporting 4K video-recording. The device runs on Android 7.0 Nougat.

On the connectivity front, the device offers NFC, GPS, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
