Will this new Exynos chipset power Galaxy S8 units?
In a newly released teaser, Samsung has confirmed to bring Exynos 9 chipset to its next-generation smartphone. As Samsung is expected to power some of the Galaxy S8 handsets with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor, the rest of the models are speculated to operate on Exynos 9 chipset.
Since the Qulacomm Snapdragon 835 chipset is based on a Samsung built 10nm FinFET processor, the Exynos 9 chipset revealed in the teaser is also expected to be based on the same Samsung processor.
The new processors will be replacing Snapdragon 820/821 and Exynos 8 octa chipset used in the Galaxy S8 predecessor, Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.
To recall, the Snapdragon 835 comes with the Quick Charge 4.0 technology, which is claimed to provide faster charging ability: 20 per cent faster and 30 per cent more efficient than Quick Charge 3.0.
Earlier, an Exynos chipset called Exynos 8895 was also tipped online. If the Exynos 9 is the same tipped '8895' chipset then it will consist of an octa-core CPU with four custom M2 cores and four ARM Cortex-A53 ones, with the new Mali-G71 GPU.
