LG adopts new technology to prevent G6 battery from overheating
LG Electronics is reportedly adopting a new technology to prevent the battery of its upcoming smartphone G6 from any overheating issues.
In a statement to the Korean Herald, the Lee Seok-jong, LG Electronics’ mobile communication operation group said, “We will significantly improve the safety and quality of our new flagship smartphones as more consumers seek safe smartphones.”
LG will use heat pipes – an element used in laptops and personal computer to prevent them from overheating, reducing the temperature by 6-10 per cent.
The element will serve as a cooling device and is made up of copper.
Additionally, LG Electronics is conducting safety tests on the G6 smartphone that the company claims to be tougher than the international standard.
“We are conducting battery heat exposure tests to a temperature 15 percent higher than the temperature set by the international standards of the US and Europe,” a LG official said.
“The battery also undergoes diverse tests such as piercing it with a sharp nail or dropping a heavy object on it from a high place,” he added.
LG is expected to unveil its G6 smartphone at MWC (Mobile World Congress) in February.
