These renders are getting us excited for Samsung's foldable Galaxy X

A Dutch website has given us a glimpse of what the foldable Samsung smartphone could look like.

At CES 2019, Samsung is rumoured to launch a foldable smartphone that has been dubbed the Galaxy X. Until recently, we have only our imagination to show us what it will look like once launched. A Dutch website, NieuweMobiel has tied up with Jonas Dähnert to give us a sort of preview of what this foldable smartphone could look like once it is launched.

Before we get started, the Dutch website has named it the Galaxy F even though it is quite commonly referred to as the Galaxy X. This makes a lot of sense since ‘F’ can stand for ‘foldable.’

The renders that have been displayed show us the handsets in different orientations — folded, open and one at a 90-degree angle. These are not official renders but rather they are based on patents filed by Samsung for a foldable smartphone. These pictures are also based of some schematics that have been found in Samsung’s patent applications.

From the images we can see that even with the handset folded, it doesn’t fold completely flat. This is because these renders show that the handset doesn’t fold in the middle. A part of the panel is continuously visible and it displays some of the media control buttons.

Another interesting point of note is that there is a fingerprint sensor located on the rear of the device. When the final version comes out, Samsung may opt for an in-display fingerprint scanner instead of employing it on the rear. As far as cameras are concerned, the renders display a dual-system on the rear. This may make the cut and Samsung may add two more shooters up front for selfies. So we may see a total of four cameras with the device.

In a related report by GSMArena, the Samsung Galaxy X (or F) could come with a display size of 7-inches when unfolded and feature a 21:9 aspect ratio. The battery is said to be between 3000mAh to 6000mAh and the stipulated price of the handset is said to be around USD 1,850 (about Rs 1,29,786).

Stay tuned for more regarding this upcoming smartphone.
