Apple may launch thicker iPhone 7s/ Plus due to glass back design
According to a report from the German website Giga Apple, it has been suggested that Apple is reportedly working on manufacturing iPhone 7s and 7s Plus models which are slightly thicker in design than the current iPhone 7 variants due to glass back.
According to the report from Giga Apple, sources have mentioned that the iPhone 7s and 7s Plus models would sport a slightly bigger body, but sport a thinner camera bulge. According to the schematics given below, the 7s is slated to be a bit taller, broader, and thicker than iPhone 7.
Speaking in numbers, the Apple’s forthcoming iPhone 7s model is with 0.11mm thicker and 0.13mm broader and taller than the iPhone 7, whose dimensions are 138.31mm x 67.14mm x 7.1mm. According to the report, iPhone 7s’ accurate dimensions would be 138.44mm x 67.27mm x 7.21mm.
This however will not be the first time, considering the iPhone 6s model was thicker, broader, taller, and heavier than the previous iPhone 6 variant. This was because the 6s had the 3D Touch display and haptic feedback motor. But this time, the report states that the iPhone 7s will sport a slightly bigger body because of the glass back design.
Giga Apple has stated that Apple may be manufacturing the iPhone 7s back panel from glass instead of aluminium as it did with previous models launched in recent years. Although it seems unlikely that Apple is returning to a glass design, and the source is unable to confirm the change as well.
It is widely believed that the next iPhone 7s’ wireless capabilities will have to do something with the device being slightly thicker than the predecessor. One thing is for sure, Apple’s next iPhone which will be unveiled next month is sporting a bigger and more advanced camera.
