Pokemon Go available in 26 countries; check if yours in on the list
Pokemon Go, a product from Niantic, an Australia-based developer, has been a mega-viral game ever since it launched last week. Every part of the world has been hit with the news, but people are going crazy on how they can play it on their phones too. The game was initially launched in US, Australia and New Zealand, and the company planned the launch to other international audience in the following days. However, a server glitch, due to the overwhelming response, caused the international launch to be put on hold. The game was launched a few days ago on UK and Germany too, but other countries are still officially waiting for the game.

Though the game is not officially available in many countries, users are finding different ways to have the game installed on their phones. Android users are downloading the game’s APK file from different file hosting services and sideloading them to successfully play Pokemon Go. However, there are several reports of the APK files being tweaked with viruses and malware. The game has also attracted many scamsters and hackers who are putting up a fake Pokemon Go game on the official Google Play Store. Installing this fake game is hijacking the user’s smartphone by freezing the display and clicking on porn ads in the background, making money for the hacker. Nintendo is now planning to pull down all such apps from various websites, as a move to curb the spread of malware and fake apps.

iPhone users on the other hand have a method of installing the app unofficially on their devices, provided they are jailbroken. Jailbroken devices are prone to security issues and voids all warranty from Apple too. An ‘unofficial’ official method of installing Pokemon Go is also possible. For now, the game has been officially launched in 26 different countries. Pokemon Go is available in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Greenland, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, and Switzerland. The Pokemon Go game is free to play and is available to download on Google’s Play Store and Apple’s App Store.
There were a few reports of the Pokemon Go servers having an outage and users could not log into their accounts to play the game. This was also rumoured to be a possible hack into the servers of Niantic. However, the servers were down for a short while and services are resumed.
