How safe is Samsung's Galaxy S8 when compared to Note 7?

YouTuber JerryRigEverything uploaded a new video that seems to confirm that Galaxy S8's battery won't catch fire or explode.

Samsung faced a tough time last year due to the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco. In an effort to revive its lost glory, the South Korean tech giant launched its Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. However, questions regarding how safe the device is when it comes its battery are still raised.

YouTube user JerryRigEverything recently uploaded a video on the platform that seems to put the Galaxy S8 through variants tests in order to test how safe the device is and the results are surprisingly good. The video seemed to have confirmed that the Galaxy S8’s battery won’t catch fire or explode, even when you stab it with a knife.

The user in the video is seen prying off the glass back and cutting through the back of the device. The device’s battery merely starts smoking and expands but that’s about it.

The user explains that normally one would see sparks and flames after puncturing a lithium-ion battery. However, it appears like Samsung has finally figured out how to prevent the Galaxy S8’s battery from catching fire.
