LG wants people shout at V30 for unlocking
Just say “Good day” and the LG V30 will be automatically unlocked without pressing any button or swiping the screen, the Korean tech giant confirmed.
According to a report by the Korean Herald, LG has disclosed some of its new features that are set to debut on firm’s next generation smartphone, the LG V30, including “unlocking via any keywords”.
LG will unveil V30 during the consumer electronics show IFA in Germany, Berlin on August 31.
LG says the “unlock via customised keywords” feature makes the device much safer and will help the device set apart from other rivals such as Samsung’s Galaxy, Apple’s iPhone and Android-run smartphones which only respond to “Hi Bixby,” “Hey Siri” and “Ok Google,” respectively.
LG also confirmed to upgrade facial recognition technology to unlock the device. “The facial recognition will make it easier to unlock the device by just lifting the phone up to a user’s face compared to phones made by rivals,” LG said.
Additionally, the 6-inch OLED display with 18:9 aspect ratio is said to offer an upgraded Floating Bar and Always-on Display features which will allow quick access to frequently used functions and control music, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, camera and flashlight when powered off, respectively.
On the other hand, the device will incorporate F1.6 lens – the “largest aperture among existing smartphone cameras” – delivering 25 per cent more light to the sensor compared to an F1.8 lens.
“We will provide both convenience and professionalism by allowing everyone to enjoy V30’s high-performance multimedia functions,” LG’s Mobile Communication Division President Cho Jun-ho said.
