Apple announced its new, highly-efficient iOS 10 at this year’s WWDC conference on Monday. The new OS by the Cupertino-based company is billed to be one of the biggest changes to the iOS which has opened up Siri to third party developers and added a slew of new improved features.
However, a new report has pointed out that users who are still using outdated iPhones or iPads won’t be getting the latest software update. Some of the devices that will miss out on the new update are the iPhone 4 and 4s, released in 2011; the iPad 2 and 3; the original iPad mini and the 5th-gen iPod Touch.
Pegged to release this September, the iOS 10 will only work on the upcoming iPhone 7, iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPad Air 2, iPad Air, iPad 4, iPad mini 3, iPad mini 2, and iPod touch sixth-generation onwards.
Although the devices with A5 chip received the iOS 9 update released last year, the new software is far too demanding for it to handle. A lot of old Apple device owners will be frustrated by the news but the company cannot be blamed on this regard.
Analytical information showed that there are still close to 40 per cent individuals use old devices which won’t be getting iOS 10.
Over the years, iOS updates have been rolled out much faster in comparison to Android but as the company releases new models of the iPhones and iPads, older devices will miss out on the performance requisite to support the latest operating systems.
