Moto C and C Plus with Android Nougat, 4,000mAh battery and front flash unveiled

Lenovo Moto's budget offering focuses on providing essentials and practicality.

After days of leaks and numerous speculations, Lenovo Moto has finally taken off the wraps of its Moto C range of smartphones. The Moto C range will sit under the Moto E range and will offer a no frills smartphone experience to the budget conscious consumer.

There are two phones under the Moto C badge. The entry level Moto C starts at $97 (Rs 6,221) and offers a 2,350mAh battery. The smartphone runs on Android Nougat out of the box and is built around a Mediatek quad-core processor. There’s 1GB of Ram for handling tasks and 8GB internal memory that can be expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card. The phone offers 5-inch 854 x 480-pixel display. For taking pictures, there’s a 5MP rear camera with LED flash and 2MP front camera with LED flash. There’s a choice of a 3G and a 4G variant as well, which is quite strange considering the competition offering 4G as standard.

The Moto C Plus is similar to the Moto C under the hood, except for the bigger 4,000 mAh battery, a 5-inch 1280x720-pixel display and dual-SIM support. The rear camera gets boosted to an 8MP unit, while the front camera with its own LED flash remains unchanged. The Moto C Plus starts at 119 Euros, which is around Rs 8,300 for the 16GB storage option.

Both the Moto C phones will be available in cherry, white, gold, and black colour options.

While nothing has been said about an India launch for the Moto C, we expect Lenovo Moto to bring the C Plus version to the Indian shores with support for VoLTE. The phones will be released this spring across Latin America, Europe, and the Asian-Pacific.
