New Moto G6, Moto E5 leak reveals major specifications

Motorola's Moto G6 and Moto E5 series has received network certification in Thailand and Indonesia.

Motorola is reportedly working on several smartphones as part of its 2018 lineup. Rumours and leaks suggest that the company might soon unveil the mid-range budget Moto G6 and Moto E5 series, and upgrades to its flagship modular Moto Z series, expected to be released initially in Asia. The smartphones were speculated to make their debut at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 in Barcelona, but they didn't show up.

A recent report now claims that Motorola's Moto G6 and Moto E5 series has received network certification in Thailand and Indonesia while the Moto E5 and E5 Play have been certified in Indonesia. Here are some of the expected specifications of Moto G6 and Moto G5 series.

Motorola Moto G6 series

Moto G6: The Moto G6 will apparently abandon the all-metal unibody design similar to its predecessor with a metal frame and a 3D glass rear panel. The phone could sport a 5.7-inch full HD+ display and house a Snapdragon 450 chipset along with 3GB/4GB RAM and a 32GB/64GB storage. The Moto G6 will supposedly sport dual rear cameras with a combination of 12MP and 5MP sensors and 16MP sensor on the front. The Moto G6 could be fuelled by a 3000mAh battery.

Moto G6 Plus: The smartphone will apparently sport a 5.93-inch full HD+ display and an 18:9 aspect ratio. The Moto G6 Plus is expected to sport a Snapdragon 630 chipset clubbed with 3GB/4GB/6GB RAM and a 32GB/64GB storage. The device could be packed with a 3200mAh battery. Optics wise, it seems that both the G6 and G6 Plus will have the same 12MP+5MP dual rear camera setup and 16MP front camera. The handset will be available in three colours — deep indigo, nimbus and dark lake.

Both the phones might feature front-mounted fingerprint sensor as opposed to rear mounted sensor seen on other smartphones with a fullscreen display. The Moto G6 is expected to be priced at $240 (approximately Rs 15,400) in the US, while G6 Plus could be priced around $330 (approximately Rs 21,000).

Moto G6 Play: This budget handset could sport a 5.7-inch HD display. It could come in two variants — 2GB/16GB and 3GB/32GB. It is expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 430 chipset. The device could be drawing its power from a 4000mAh battery. It could also feature the fingerprint sensor on the rear side.

Motorola Moto E5 Series

The Moto E5 could come with a 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels. It could be only available in the 3GB/32GB and could be backed by a 3028mAh battery. The smartphone could feature a 16MP primary camera and a 5MP front shooter.

As for the Moto E5 Plus, the phone will apparently come with 5.8-inch HD+ (1440x720p) display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The phone could be launched in a 3GB/64GB and be powered by a large 5000mAh battery. It could feature a 16MP primary camera and 8MP front shooter.

The Moto E5 Play is alleged to feature a 5.2-inch HD (1280x720p) display, 2GB RAM and 16GB storage. It could come with a 12MP rear camera and 5MP front shooter. The device will be fulled by a large 4,000mAh battery.
