Samsung is considering adopting pressure-sensitive display technology for it upcoming handsets, including the Galaxy S8, according to a Korean website The Investor.

The report suggested that the chances of Samsung to deploy the pressure-sensitive technology is very high, as the company own display-making unit Samsung Display supplies force touch display to Huawei, who was the first smartphone maker to feature the technology on its Mate S model.

However, Samsung is said to adopt the technology ‘partially’, but not ‘fully’, which is still unclear.

‘Samsung is mulling to adopt the force touch technology partially from the S8 but the full adoption qill come in one or two years,’ Investor’s source said in a statement.

Adding weight to the reports, a senior executive at Samsung’s component division confirmed the news saying, it could be deployed ‘in the near future.’

The technology was also adopted by Apple and was unveiled with the launch of iPhone 6S. Apple termed the pressure-sensitive technology as ‘3D Touch.’

The technology has been designed to detect different strengths of press on the screen, allowing users to perform various functions from zooming in photos to using shortcuts without opening an app.
